AWGC 2022 Grantees Announced

We are thrilled to announce our 2022 Grantees! Members voted online to choose the organizations. Below are the details on the votes and the worthy organizations to whom we will be donating this year. 

  • The majority voted for funding one project completely and then giving the remaining funds to the second choice organization

  • The majority voted to fund Pegasus Legal Services for Children 100% ($10,000) with the remaining funds going to the New Mexico Asian Family Center (~$6,100).


ABOUT OUR GRANTEES

Pegasus Legal Services for Children
Mission: The mission of Pegasus Legal Services for Children is to promote and defend the rights of children and youth to safe, stable homes, quality education and healthcare, and a voice in decisions that affect their lives.

Target Population: Children and young adults from age 0 to 25, as well as adults (typically grandparents) in the role of kinship caregivers for children whose parents are unable or unwilling to provide them with proper care; Low-income clients

Project Description: They have moved to a four day work week for all staff; Kept full-time staff at same salary; Raised hourly rates for part-time employees

Grant Request: $10,000 to offset part-time employee raises. $10,000 awarded.


New Mexico Asian Family Center
Mission: We provide culturally sensitive programs and services creating a Pan-Asian community that advocates for and supports itself.

Target Population: Asian, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiians; Focus on survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crimes; Low to extremely low income individuals and families; Immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers; Individuals who speak languages other than English.

Project Description: All staff wellness program to include: Training to address topics such as decolonizing care, strategies for healing, trauma and vicarious trauma, understanding boundaries and how to set them, burnout and compassion fatigue, cross-racial movement building with the shared inheritance of trauma, and service models for healers; Quarterly staff bonding days; Wellness stipends/gift cards; Food for staff meetings (made by community/clients); Self-care package

Grant Request: $15,000. ~$6,100 awarded.
